Melbourne renamed a street Seekers Way to honor the band on the 63rd anniversary of their debut.
A laneway in St Kilda, Melbourne, has been renamed Seekers Way to honor the Australian folk-pop band The Seekers, marking 63 years since their first performance.
The change, approved in late 2024, resolves confusion with another Nelson Street and reflects a broader effort to recognize Australia’s music heritage.
Though typically only deceased individuals are honored, the band’s surviving members, including Keith Potger, welcomed the tribute.
The City of Port Phillip is also considering future tributes to musicians like Renee Geyer and Spencer P Jones.
