Latvia’s foreign minister visited Kyiv, received Ukraine’s top honor, and pledged more drones, funding, and training amid strengthened defense and reconstruction ties.
Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braže visited Kyiv, where she was awarded Ukraine’s Order of Merit, II degree, for her support of Ukraine’s sovereignty and reconstruction.
During talks with President Zelenskyy, both sides reaffirmed strong defense cooperation, including Latvia’s delivery of about 12,000 drones and plans for EUR 15 million in 2026 to boost drone technology and research.
Latvia also pledged EUR 5 million for rehabilitation of Ukrainian soldiers and will continue training up to 4,000 annually.
The visit included a tour of Chernihiv’s rebuilt pediatric facilities, highlighting Latvia’s humanitarian and reconstruction efforts.
Both nations emphasized the need for sustained sanctions on Russia and continued diplomatic coordination.
