Jon-Paul Clark and Rajesh Bakshi sentenced to 9 and 10 years for smuggling £4M heroin into UK.
Jon-Paul Clark, 44, of Liverpool, was sentenced to nine years in prison for organizing the smuggling of 40kg of heroin—worth £4 million—into the UK, intercepted at Dover in June 2022.
Co-accused Rajesh Bakshi, 57, of East Lothian, received a 10-year sentence after admitting to the crime.
Forensic evidence linked Clark’s DNA to the drug packaging and Bakshi’s fingerprints, while phone records placed both men in Holland and Belgium before the seizure.
A photo of the pair and messages requesting money from Bakshi were found on Clark’s phone.
Clark claimed his DNA was transferred via a borrowed jumper, but the court rejected this defense.
Both had prior drug-related convictions, and authorities emphasized their role in combating Class A drug trafficking.
