A food drive collected six truckloads of donations for Exeter’s food bank despite limited promotion, helping meet rising demand from struggling families.
The Exeter Community Food Bank received strong community support during a November 22 food drive, collecting at least six pickup trucks’ worth of donations across five communities despite limited promotion due to a Canada Post job action.
Organized by South Huron firefighters and Scouts, the effort helped stock the food bank for the holiday season, with growing demand from working families facing rising costs.
The food bank serves at least 40 families weekly, particularly needing canned soups, vegetables, children’s lunches, and Kraft Dinner.
Donations are accepted Wednesdays and Thursdays at 249 Andrew St., or via e-transfer, with a “stuff-the-truck” event set for December 13.
Assistance can be requested by phone, email, or Facebook.
