Angola launches its first independent $4B gas project, boosting domestic use and exports.
Angola has launched its first non-associated gas project, a $4 billion plant in Soyo operated by Azule Energy, a joint venture of Eni and bp.
The facility, completed six months early, processes up to 400 million cubic feet of gas daily from offshore Quiluma and Maboqueiro fields, supplying both domestic needs and the Angola LNG export terminal.
The project, supported by partners including Sonangol, TotalEnergies, and Chevron, marks a strategic shift from oil-dependent production to independent gas development, aiming to diversify the economy and boost industrial growth.
President João Lourenço attended the inauguration, underscoring its national significance.
