The UK government, led by Chancellor Rachel Reeves, has announced new tobacco and vape duties effective November 26, 2025, with tobacco taxes rising by inflation plus two percentage points and a £2.20 per 100 cigarettes one-off increase set for October 2026. A new £2.20 per 10ml excise duty on vaping liquids will also take effect then. These measures, part of the Autumn Budget, aim to address a £40 billion fiscal shortfall and boost public health, with tobacco duties projected to raise £8.1 billion in 2025–26.
