On November 26, 2025, Sir David Beckham visited a government residential school in Kothavalasa, Andhra Pradesh, as part of a campaign to promote project-based learning (PBL) in public schools.
He observed student-led projects in math, science, and English, joined a reading circle, participated in a tree-planting activity with digital tracking, and played football with students.
The visit highlighted the Mantra4Change initiative, which has transformed 107 residential schools across India, reaching 18,000 students and training school leaders.
PBL aims to replace rote learning with hands-on, collaborative problem-solving, boosting student confidence and critical thinking.
Beckham praised the program on Instagram, calling it “so much fun.” His presence supported the Shikshagraha movement to improve one million public schools through innovation, teacher development, and cross-sector collaboration.
