Pan African Resources to expand South Africa gold project, boosting output to nearly 100,000 oz annually.
Pan African Resources plans a R2.8 billion expansion of its Mogale tailings retreatment complex in South Africa, aiming to boost annual gold output to nearly 100,000 ounces by adding a 600,000-tonne-per-month Soweto Tailings Retreatment circuit.
The project, expected to cost $160 million and take two years, could produce 30,000 to 35,000 ounces annually for 15 years at an all-in sustaining cost of $1,000–$1,200 per ounce, with a 29% internal rate of return at $2,800 per ounce.
Environmental approvals and water licenses are on track for decisions by mid-2026, and the company aims to be net-debt-free by February 2026.
The expansion follows strong gold prices and renewed investment in South Africa’s mining sector.
