Christine Muturi Lewis, a Mesa woman, was arrested and charged after using a stolen nursing license to work as a registered nurse at Northern Arizona Hospice in Cottonwood.
Court documents reveal she falsely claimed over four years of hospice experience and submitted a Colorado license issued four years before her birth, belonging to a woman 27 years older.
The real license holder said she never authorized its use.
Lewis, who has no valid nursing license, resigned after the fraud was uncovered and later began working at Golden Rose Hospice in Mesa.
On Nov. 13, an undercover agent caught her falsely claiming licensure during a meeting about a planned hospice facility.
She was taken into custody at her Mesa home, with bail denied due to her status as a convicted felon on supervised release.
She has prior convictions for domestic battery in Las Vegas and being a fugitive in Los Angeles.
