The Indian government has approved ₹9,858 crore for Phase-2 of the Pune Metro, including Line 4 (Kharadi–Khadakwasla) and Line 4A (Nal Stop–Manik Baug), adding 31.6 km of elevated rail with 28 stations. The project, to be completed in five years, will connect IT hubs, residential areas, and commercial centers across East, South, and West Pune, integrating with existing transit lines and reducing congestion on major roads. Funded jointly by the central and Maharashtra governments and external agencies, it aims to boost daily ridership from 4.09 lakh by 2028 to over 11.7 lakh by 2058, supporting sustainable urban mobility and regional development.
