Google is launching YouTube Premium Lite in South Korea, a lower-priced, ad-free video-only subscription without music streaming, as part of a settlement with the country’s Fair Trade Commission over antitrust concerns. Priced at 8,500 won ($5.80) monthly for Android and web users and 10,900 won for iOS, it offers background playback and offline viewing. The service, introduced to address allegations of unfair bundling and market dominance, will remain below international prices for up to four years and must launch within 90 days. It will coexist with existing Premium and Music Premium tiers.
