Former Arizona prosecutor Vanessa Dailey faces felony theft charges for keeping and selling $40,000 in jewelry meant for a neighbor.
Former Arizona prosecutor Vanessa Dailey, 49, faces felony theft charges after allegedly keeping and selling $40,000 in jewelry mistakenly delivered to her Phoenix home.
The items, meant for a neighbor, arrived on May 31; Dailey sold a diamond bracelet on Poshmark for $750 after listing it for $1,947.
Postal inspectors found excessive tape on the returned package, contradicting her claim of not opening it.
The original bracelet, valued at $2,400 and bought from Costco, was reported missing.
Dailey, a former division chief at the Arizona Attorney General’s Office, was placed on leave on November 13, arrested on November 19, and formally charged on November 24.
Authorities suggest she may also face trafficking charges.
She has not commented and denies wrongdoing in a separate lawsuit over $139,000 in severance funds.
