Bayer has introduced its new Intacta 5+ soybean trait in Brazil, pending regulatory approval, for the 2027/28 crop season.
The genetically engineered seed offers resistance to five herbicides—mesotrione, dicamba, glyphosate, glufosinate, and 2,4-D—and protects against certain caterpillars.
It is the first such trait in Brazil with tolerance to five herbicides.
The launch supports Bayer’s push to expand biotech seed use in the country, the world’s largest soybean exporter.
Brazil is the second-largest global producer of biotech crops, with genetically modified traits used in nearly all soybeans, cotton, and corn.
Bayer says its Intacta technology has boosted soybean production by 21.2 million metric tons over the past decade.
