Aleema Khan was briefly detained in Pakistan for trying to leave court, amid claims of police violence against her sisters during a protest over Imran Khan’s health.
Aleema Khan, sister of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, was briefly detained in a Rawalpindi anti-terrorism court on November 26 after seeking to leave during a hearing, citing her lawyer’s absence at the Supreme Court.
The court, citing procedural rules, restricted her movement and fined her Rs10,000 for allegedly obstructing testimony.
After her lawyer arrived, she was released on two bail bonds totaling Rs2 million.
The incident occurred amid heightened tensions following allegations by Khan’s three sisters that they were violently assaulted by police while attempting to visit him at Adiala Jail.
They claim officers turned off streetlights, attacked them without warning, and physically dragged them, causing injuries, in a protest over concerns for Imran Khan’s health.
The sisters demand an independent investigation, while the government has not confirmed the allegations or provided details on Khan’s condition.
Aleema Khan fue detenida brevemente en Pakistán por intentar abandonar la corte, en medio de denuncias de violencia policial contra sus hermanas durante una protesta por la salud de Imran Khan.
