Two pandas return to China early due to health issues, ending their 13-year stay in France.
Two giant pandas, Huan Huan and Yuan Zi, are returning to China from France after the female was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease, cutting short their 13-year stay at Beauval Zoo.
The 17-year-old pair, part of China’s panda diplomacy program, were originally set to remain until 2027.
They were flown from Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport under police escort, with hundreds of mournful visitors bidding farewell.
