Rohit Sharma, former India captain and 2024 T20 World Cup winner, has been named ambassador for the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
The tournament runs from February 7 to March 8, 2026, with the India-Pakistan match scheduled for February 15 in Colombo.
Sharma, who retired after the 2024 win, is the only player to have won the T20 World Cup twice—2007 as a player and 2024 as captain—and was India’s top scorer in the 2024 tournament with 257 runs at a strike rate of 156.70.
He expressed pride in representing the event and wished all teams a memorable experience.
