A new 10-storey apartment building, Parkline Apartments, has broken ground in downtown Niagara Falls on a former farmers market and parking lot, aiming to ease the city’s housing shortage.
Developed by Elite Developments with city partnership, the $120-million project will deliver 360 rental units, including 39 affordable and 39 attainable homes for low- to moderate-income renters.
The city will retain a 40% stake, contributing land and receiving future revenue.
Construction starts in March, with completion expected in three years.
The project, supported by tax incentives and site cleanup, is expected to boost downtown activity and reduce the city’s sub-2% rental vacancy rate.
