Corey Michael Thacker, 37, of Cheyenne, was sentenced to 70 months in federal prison for possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute and using a firearm during a drug crime.
The case began on February 3 when he was stopped for speeding and found without a valid license or insurance.
A drug dog alerted officers, leading to the discovery of a loaded handgun, 31.52 grams of fentanyl pills, 13.47 grams of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and $2,200 in cash.
Thacker, who had a prior felony conviction, admitted the gun was for protection as a drug dealer.
He was arrested on March 6, pleaded guilty in July, and was sentenced by Judge Kelly H. Rankin on November 7.
