Canada banned one Kneecap band member over flawed entry application; others under review, no MP or government coordination.
The Canada Border Services Agency and Prime Minister's Office denied involvement in Ontario MP Vince Gasparro’s announcement that members of the Belfast band Kneecap were banned from entering Canada. Only one member, Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh, is barred due to incomplete and inaccurate information on his electronic travel authorization application. His application was canceled in August 2025. The applications for the other two members remain under review. The ban was not based on terrorism charges, which were dismissed in the UK on a technicality. Jewish groups had previously urged Ottawa to block the band over antisemitic remarks. The government confirmed no coordination with the MP’s public statement.
