Police in Bengaluru have arrested a couple, Shivakumar and Ramya, in connection with a large-scale counterfeit Nandini ghee operation.
The Central Crime Branch uncovered a fake manufacturing unit using industrial machinery to produce ghee that mimicked the genuine product’s appearance and packaging.
Authorities seized 8,136 liters of adulterated ghee, along with coconut and palm oil, vehicles, equipment, and ₹1.19 lakh in cash, with total assets valued at ₹1.27 crore.
The fake ghee was produced in Tamil Nadu, repackaged in counterfeit Nandini containers, and distributed across Karnataka, sometimes using legitimate KMF distributor licenses.
The operation followed a prior raid that led to the arrest of four others.
Investigations continue to identify all participants in the supply chain.
