Battery X Metals Inc. has partnered with a top 20 global university to advance its proprietary recycling process for recovering high-purity graphite, oxides, and phosphates from used lithium-ion batteries.
The collaboration focuses on improving graphite grade and oxide purity, expanding the technology to handle lithium-iron-phosphate chemistries, and preparing for pilot-scale testing.
Previous lab results showed over 98% graphite recovery and up to 96% oxide purity using a mild, eco-friendly solvent and re-flotation method that effectively removes polymer binders without damaging graphite.
The research addresses challenges like surface oxidation that reduce separation efficiency.
The company says the technology could support a sustainable, circular supply chain by reducing chemical and energy use, aligning with global clean energy goals.
