Wisconsin Eye, a nonprofit that has streamed Wisconsin’s government proceedings for 18 years and maintains a 30,000-hour archive of political events, will shut down on December 15 unless it raises $1 million in emergency funding.
Despite securing nearly $10 million in state funds contingent on a dollar-for-dollar match, the group has received zero donations after 49 fundraising appeals.
It is now seeking legislative approval to access state endowment funds early, but Republican leaders, including Assembly Speaker Robin Vos and Joint Finance Committee co-chairs, have not responded.
Without immediate intervention, the organization will cease operations and remove its public archive of state government proceedings.
