Two UK Lords suspended for four to five months over ethics breaches involving paid access to officials.
Two senior members of the UK House of Lords, Lord Richard Dannatt and Lord David Evans of Watford, face suspensions of four and five months respectively after breaching ethical rules by offering access to government officials in exchange for financial gain.
The findings, upheld by the Lords Conduct Committee, stem from undercover reporting by The Guardian, which revealed Dannatt discussing paid parliamentary services despite no direct payment, and Evans promoting events for a company tied to his son, where he held a stake.
Neither peer appealed the sanctions, with both acknowledging their actions fell short of expected standards.
The suspensions require final approval by the House of Commons.
