A man suffered critical burns in a South Carolina LP gas fire at a hunting lodge shed, ran for help, and was airlifted to a burn center.
A 31-year-old man suffered critical burns Saturday night in a fire at a cooking shed on a hunting lodge in Colleton County, South Carolina, after liquefied petroleum gas ignited while he was cooking.
He ran half a mile to a nearby truck stop for help before being airlifted to MUSC’s burn center in Charleston.
The 800-square-foot shed was destroyed, and another structure sustained damage, but the main house and camper were spared.
Fire crews contained the blaze within 15 minutes.
Colleton County Fire-Rescue confirmed the LP gas ignition as the cause, and the incident is under investigation.
