Fayetteville gets nearly $7M in state funds for road, sidewalk, and bike lane repairs, aiding recovery from Hurricane Helene.
Fayetteville has received nearly $7 million in Powell Bill funds from North Carolina’s DOT to repair streets and improve infrastructure, part of a $185.6 million statewide allocation.
The funds, from gas taxes and highway user fees, support resurfacing, sidewalks, bridges, and bike lanes.
The city will use $15 million for streets, $5 million for sidewalks, and $440,000 for bike lanes, with the second half of the funding expected by January 1, 2025.
The program, active since 1951, is critical for communities recovering from Hurricane Helene’s September 2024 impact.
