Albert Street in Auckland’s city centre will reopen on 29 November 2025 as a two-way corridor with dedicated bus lanes, restoring eight bus routes including the Western Express and frequent services like 11T and 18.
The upgrade, part of the City Rail Link project, reduces congestion on Queen Street, improves access to the new Te Waihorotiu Station, and supports electric and double-decker buses running frequently.
Over 200,000 cubic metres of material was removed during construction, and the underground station features skylights for natural light.
