Vietnam’s top leader calls for stronger party oversight, citing widespread violations and pushing reforms ahead of the 14th Congress.
On November 24, 2025, Vietnam’s Party General Secretary Tô Lâm called for eliminating all gaps in the Communist Party’s inspection and supervision system during a national conference marking the end of the 13th tenure.
He emphasized stronger oversight, data sharing, and accountability, noting that inspection bodies reviewed over 232,000 organizations and 1.28 million members, disciplining thousands for violations, including 10 high-ranking officials.
Lam highlighted ongoing challenges like weak self-inspection and uneven capacity, urging reforms and proactive monitoring ahead of the 14th Congress.
The Central Inspection Commission also advanced digital transformation and issued 44 new guidelines.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh promoted international cooperation, urging the EU to ratify a trade agreement and lift a seafood import warning, while Vietnam prepares to chair a nuclear non-proliferation conference in 2026.
