A Tamworth taxi driver was given a 12-month community order after pleading guilty to touching a female passenger without consent in July 2024.
A 57-year-old Tamworth taxi driver, Warren Clark, was sentenced to a 12-month Community Correction Order and given a two-year apprehended violence order after pleading guilty to sexually touching a 33-year-old female passenger without consent on July 27, 2024.
The incident occurred during a late-night ride in South Tamworth after Clark picked up the woman and friends from a club.
After dropping off her companions, he invited her to the front seat, asked about a hookup, and later kissed her and touched her breasts as she exited the vehicle.
She reported the incident days later.
The court acknowledged the breach of trust inherent in the taxi service, the victim’s impaired state, and the power imbalance, despite the offense being deemed low in severity.
Clark had no prior criminal record and offered a written apology.
