flag STMicroelectronics launches GaN power ICs to boost efficiency in small motors, cutting size and energy use.

STMicroelectronics has launched its GaNSPIN gallium nitride power ICs, including the GANSPIN611 and GANSPIN612, designed to enhance efficiency in household and industrial motors up to 400 watts. The chips enable smaller, lighter, and more energy-efficient designs for appliances and automation systems, reducing PCB space by up to 60% and eliminating the need for heatsinks. They offer built-in protection, support standard 110–230 V AC power, and feature pin compatibility for easy scaling. The platform is set for demonstration at SPS 2025 in Nuremberg and aims to support ST’s carbon neutrality goals by 2027.
