flag A solo tabletop RPG, ALone: A Solo Game Engine, released Oct. 25, 2025, lets players tell stories alone using simple keywords and oracle cards, no GM needed.

ALONe: A Solo Game Engine, released in a second edition on October 25, 2025, is a tabletop roleplaying system designed for single players without a Game Master. Created by schoolteacher Nathan Rockwood of Larcenous Designs LLC, it uses simple character and setting descriptions with three keywords each to automatically define traits, tools, and world details, eliminating the need to track inventory or logistics. Players drive the story by asking “what happens next” or taking actions, with outcomes emerging from descriptors or oracle cards when uncertain. Five Revision Points per story allow players to control scenes, re-roll cards, or trigger Vignettes—moments that reframe past events. Though no formal mechanics exist for health or resources, players can track them manually. The system, inspired by Rockwood’s educational work and prior games, promotes imaginative, collaborative storytelling with a playful, child-friendly ethos, and can be adapted for small groups with mutual narrative support.
