Sharjah’s trade mission to Kenya and Uganda secured 120 deals and boosted UAE-East Africa trade under a new economic pact.
A trade mission by Sharjah’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry to Kenya and Uganda concluded successfully, marking the tenth phase of a decade-long effort to boost economic ties with East Africa.
Led by Chairman Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, the delegation advanced cooperation in sectors like food manufacturing, construction, healthcare, logistics, and ICT, with 65% of participating companies being small and medium-sized enterprises.
Over 3,500 B2B meetings resulted in more than 80 memoranda of understanding and 120 commercial deals.
The mission coincided with the UAE-Kenya Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, which drove a 29.1% increase in non-oil trade, reaching $3.1 billion in the first nine months of 2024.
Forums in Nairobi and Kampala highlighted interest in clean energy and green infrastructure, with partnerships formed with Invest Kenya and Ugandan business leaders.
