Patrick Tyson was arrested in Sylva, North Carolina, after allegedly setting a woman on fire during a domestic dispute on Friday morning.
Police responded to a call at a home on Chipper Curve Road around 7:18 a.m.
Authorities say Tyson poured isopropyl alcohol on the floor and a couch where the woman was sitting, then ignited it, threatening to burn her unless she got him a beer.
The woman’s shirt was burned off, but she sustained no physical injuries.
The fire caused smoke damage, a charred couch, damaged carpet, and a shattered stove.
The Sylva Fire Department extinguished the blaze.
Tyson was charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon, felony first-degree arson, and two misdemeanors, and was booked into Jackson County Jail under a $750,000 secured bond.
His first court appearance is scheduled for December 1, 2025.
