India and Canada aim to double trade by 2030 through collaboration in clean energy, critical minerals, and emerging tech.
Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal highlighted India’s potential for collaboration with Canada in critical minerals, clean energy, nuclear power, and emerging technologies like AI, quantum computing, and data centers during the Indo-Canadian Business Chamber’s convention in New Delhi.
He emphasized India’s 500-gigawatt national grid, 250 gigawatts of clean energy capacity, and plans to double renewables by 2030, along with a large STEM workforce, as strategic assets.
Goyal noted bilateral trade reached $23 billion in 2024, a 10% rise, and called for a high-ambition economic partnership to double trade by 2030, urging stronger business ties, reactivated CEO forums, joint innovation, and focus on priority sectors including aerospace and defense.
