A heritage-rich Armidale shop, Jolly Good Emporium, opens Nov. 29, showcasing local crafts and restored historic features.
A new shop called Jolly Good Emporium will open on November 29 in Armidale Mall, showcasing locally made crafts, art, jewellery, pottery, and antiques with no mass-produced items.
Co-owned by Wayne Boyle and Jakob Wietschorke, the 250-square-metre space was once a 19th-century chemist and timber mill, purchased for $750,000 and renovated with a $250,000 investment.
Original features like medical cabinets, wallpaper, and pressed metal ceilings were uncovered during restoration and will be displayed in a small museum.
The emporium will hold a soft opening during Armidale’s Sunday markets and Christmas in the Mall, with a grand opening planned for March 2026.
Local support has been strong, and the owners aim to preserve the building’s heritage while promoting regional craftsmanship.
