A four-alarm fire at a Long Island eatery destroyed the building but caused no injuries.
A four-alarm fire erupted Sunday evening at 529 Bagels and Ralph’s Famous Italian Ices in Franklin Square, Long Island, around 5:18 p.m., originating in the basement and burning for three hours.
Approximately 200 firefighters from 15 departments responded, using multiple ladders and hoses to extinguish the blaze, which caused heavy structural damage but no injuries, as both businesses were unoccupied.
The fire was declared under control by 9:43 p.m., with Franklin Avenue temporarily closed.
Authorities, including the Nassau County Fire Marshal and Arson/Bomb Squad, are investigating the cause, which remains undetermined.
