A DUI stop in East Helena led to a crash that killed a 69-year-old woman and injured a 76-year-old man.
A 69-year-old woman died and a 76-year-old man was injured Saturday night in East Helena, Montana, when a vehicle pursued by the Montana Highway Patrol crashed into a home after the driver fled during a suspected DUI stop.
The pursuit began after a trooper stopped an Audi A7 just after 11 p.m., and the 52-year-old driver fled following a passenger’s exit.
The car went through a fence and struck a residence at the intersection of Lake Helena Drive and Old Highway 12.
The suspect was taken into custody and hospitalized.
The Lewis and Clark County Sheriff’s Office is assisting the investigation, which will be reviewed by the county attorney’s office for potential charges.
The identities of the victim and driver have not been released.
