Dalton Oliver appeals his 11-year sentence for fatally stabbing Graham Cameron in 2021, claiming it's too harsh.
Dalton Trent Oliver, 26, has appealed his 11-year prison sentence for the 2021 stabbing death of Graham Cameron, 54, in Stockton, New South Wales, arguing the punishment is excessive. Oliver pleaded guilty to manslaughter and intentionally setting a fire to destroy evidence after failing to stop a juvenile from fatally stabbing Cameron three times. The attack occurred in Cameron’s home in July 2021, shortly after Oliver, who has a history of mental illness and violence, was released on bail following a threat to stab his sister. Initially believed to have died from smoke inhalation, Cameron’s autopsy confirmed he died from stab wounds before the fire. Oliver, the only person convicted, was sentenced to 11 years with a seven-year non-parole period, making him ineligible for parole until October 2029. His appeal will be heard in December.
