AACo invests in U.S. methane credit platform to cut livestock emissions, advancing similar efforts in Australia.
Australian beef producer AACo has invested in Athian, a U.S. methane credit platform backed by major food companies, to support emissions reductions in livestock through feed and manure management.
The platform has facilitated nearly $28 million in payments to farmers and raised $4 million.
AACo, which tested red seaweed supplements to reduce methane but isn’t currently using them, is preparing to join a future Australian version of the credit system.
It is also advancing soil carbon projects in Queensland using sustainable farming practices and expanding cropping operations in the Gulf of Carpentaria, part of a broader effort to generate environmental and financial value from its vast landholdings.
