Two Birmingham men, Colin and Lee Bartlett, were sentenced in August 2025 for their roles in a £20.3 million heroin trafficking ring that smuggled over 420kg of drugs hidden in pomegranate juice from Afghanistan.
The National Crime Agency intercepted the shipment in May 2023 during unloading at a Birmingham port.
Both received suspended sentences—24 and 18 months, respectively.
Authorities continue to seek two other suspects, Shamut Khan, 56, and Matiullah Zamankhel, 23, who failed to answer bail in November 2023 and are believed linked to the operation.
The NCA warns the public to report sightings, as aiding fugitives could lead to arrest.
