Tanzania’s fisheries exports rose to 59,000 tonnes worth 755 billion shillings in 2024, up from 42,000 tonnes and 509.9 billion shillings in 2023, according to the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries.
Production from natural water bodies also increased, reaching 522,788 tonnes valued at 4.3 trillion shillings.
The number of fishers and processing factories grew, and the government is advancing deep-sea fishing, aquaculture, and conservation efforts, including a national plan for tuna and strategies for sharks and rays.
