Tanya Oxtoby has left her role as manager of Northern Ireland’s women’s national team to become head coach of Newcastle United Women’s team in the Women’s Super League 2, joining on a contract through June 2029.
She previously led Northern Ireland through a transitional phase, helping raise the team’s FIFA ranking to 44th and integrating younger players, with nine making senior debuts.
Oxtoby, a former Chelsea assistant with multiple WSL and FA Cup titles, brings extensive experience to Newcastle, which had been under interim leadership since October.
The club confirmed her appointment after a recruitment process led by Director of Women’s Football Grace Williams.
