flag A Missouri teen died after touching a live power line while hunting; authorities urge reporting sagging lines.

A 16-year-old Missouri boy died Friday morning in Ozark County after touching a sagging, energized power line while hunting with a friend near Brixey-Rockbridge. The teens were on a remote easement when the victim, unaware the line was live, was electrocuted around 9 a.m. The second teen rode an ATV to a spot with cell service and called 911. First responders confirmed the death at the scene. The victim was a volunteer firefighter with the Brixey-Rockbridge Fire Department. Ozark County Sheriff Cass Martin urged the public to report sagging power lines or damaged poles to local cooperatives to prevent future incidents. The cause remains under investigation.
