City Square in Melbourne reopens on November 30, 2025, with a concert by Jimmy Barnes, marking the completion of the $13.48 billion Metro Tunnel Project. The square, closed since 2017, now features a smoking ceremony dish, 12,000 custom pavers made with Wurundjeri elder Aunty Joy Wandin Murphy OAM, and a new retail concourse set to open in 2026. The nine-kilometre rail line with five new stations begins limited operations on November 30, with free public transport across Victoria every weekend until February 1, when full service starts. The tunnel will link the Sunbury and Cranbourne/Pakenham lines, enabling trains every 10 minutes from 6am to 10pm on the Watergardens to Dandenong route.
