The Botley West Solar Farm in Oxfordshire advances after environmental changes and a £441K annual community fund, aiming to power 330,000 homes and boost biodiversity.
The Botley West Solar Farm project in Oxfordshire has passed a key review stage, with changes made to reduce environmental and visual impacts, including fewer panels near sensitive areas and wider buffers around homes.
The developer, Photovolt Development Partners, now offers a £441,000 annual community fund for 40 years, over ten times the original amount, and will set aside 1,235 acres for food growing.
The project aims to boost biodiversity by 70%, restore public paths, and generate 840 megawatts of clean energy—enough to power about 330,000 homes—while contributing £800 million to the economy and creating hundreds of green jobs.
A residential education center will also be established.
A final decision by the Secretary of State is expected in spring 2026.
