Akhilesh Yadav demands a 3-month extension for Uttar Pradesh's voter roll revision, citing widespread errors and suppressed registrations.
Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav has urged the Election Commission of India to extend the Special Intensive Revision of voter rolls in Uttar Pradesh by three months, citing widespread issues such as missing or duplicated voter lists, failure of Booth Level Officers to distribute forms door-to-door, and incomplete data uploads.
He highlighted specific cases including 1,100 missing voters in one polling station and identical lists in Lucknow, arguing that delays in form distribution are preventing eligible voters from registering.
Yadav accused the Election Commission and BJP of collaborating to suppress votes in opposition-held constituencies, claiming the process could invalidate over 50,000 votes in areas where the INDIA bloc won in 2024.
He called for an extension to ensure all eligible voters are included ahead of upcoming elections.
