The New York Liberty have hired Chris DeMarco, a 13-year Golden State Warriors assistant and former player development coach, as their new head coach, replacing Sandy Brondello after the team’s first-round playoff exit.
DeMarco, 40, has been part of all four of the Warriors’ NBA championships and has coached the Bahamian national team since 2019.
The move follows the Liberty’s push for innovation under general manager Jonathan Kolb, with DeMarco expected to take over ahead of a potentially April WNBA season start, pending CBA negotiations.
The team aims to retain stars Breanna Stewart, Sabrina Ionescu, and Jonquel Jones.
