The Great Stupa of Universal Compassion in Bendigo, Victoria, unveiled a 20-meter-by-20-meter Kalachakra Mandala ceiling, a polycarbonate artwork symbolizing the universe, created over three years by volunteer artists. The stupa, a 50-meter-tall multi-faith center, houses the world’s largest gemstone jade Buddha, a four-tonne statue carved from Canadian nephrite jade, along with a jade halo and Green Tara statue. Nearby, the Spanner Man Sculpture Garden features over three dozen sculptures made from thousands of spanners by artist John Piccoli. In Bendigo city, a tram depot tour offers behind-the-scenes access to heritage tram restoration, and the new law courts display a copper sculpture of Bunjil, the wedge-tailed eagle, by Djaara artist Racquel Kerr.
