Limerick broadcaster David Hanly, 82, died Nov. 21, 2025, in Dublin, remembered for shaping Irish radio and TV.
David Hanly, a renowned Limerick-born broadcaster and former co-presenter of RTÉ Radio 1’s Morning Ireland, has died at 82.
He played a key role in shaping Irish public broadcasting, joining Morning Ireland at its 1984 launch and earning a Jacob’s Award in 1985.
Known for in-depth interviews on Hanly’s People and contributions to major Irish dramas, he also wrote the 1979 novel In Guilt and in Glory and hosted a poetry-focused radio program.
Tributes came from national leaders, including Taoiseach Micheál Martin, honoring his intellect and impact on Irish media.
He died in a Dublin hospital on November 21, 2025.
