The LDS Church lowered the minimum mission age for young women from 19 to 18, effective Nov. 21, 2025.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has lowered the minimum age for young women to serve full-time missions from 19 to 18, effective immediately, aligning the policy with that of young men.
The change, announced on November 21, 2025, allows women to begin missions after high school or its equivalent and reflects the church’s ongoing efforts to support youth.
Missionary service remains optional for young women, and the adjustment follows input from members worldwide.
The move is expected to increase participation, with the church planning 55 new missions by July 2026.
