Kelowna is expanding wildfire prevention work in Dilworth Mountain Park into spring, clearing vegetation and burning debris to boost community safety.
The City of Kelowna is continuing wildfire mitigation work in Dilworth Mountain Park through winter and into spring, following efforts begun last year.
Urban Forestry staff and contractors are reducing vegetation and chipping debris, with pile burning in inaccessible areas when weather permits.
Trail closures may occur daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the public is urged to avoid active work zones, especially where chainsaws are operating.
The work supports the FireSmart™ program to enhance community resilience to wildfires.
Officials stress that wildfire risk reduction is a shared responsibility and encourage residents to take protective measures.
